Keep energy bill savvy over the silly season

Tis the season to be jolly…about many things but not all of the extra expenses that come with it. After all, it’s not called the silly season for no reason! We’ve prepared some handy tips to make sure your energy bill doesn’t spill over this Christmas.

Do you know what’s around the corner?
Know what makes up your bill costs, so you don’t get any nasty shocks.

Did you know that energy retailers can change your electricity and gas prices even after you’ve signed up to a plan? This can lead to higher bills than what you’re prepared for.

Before you sign up to a new energy plan, be sure to ask the retailer if they are going to change their prices in the near future. This will help you pick the best plan for your circumstances, and you won’t be in for a nasty shock, even if your energy prices do go up.

How long has it been since you’ve switched?
Understand the range of offers available to you.

With energy costs on the rise, it’s never been a better time to take a closer look at your energy plan to understand whether you’re getting the best bang for your buck. Depending on where you live, did you know there may be lots of different offers available to you? For example, if you live in Noosa, there are over 60 different energy plans to choose from.

Looking around at the energy plans available to you can help you keep your costs low. But we know comparing and choosing between many plans can sometimes be a little overwhelming – that’s where Energy Made Easy comes in! Have a look at these handy tips to switch and do a search now to find the best offer for you.

Need a little extra help with paying your bill?
Ask your retailer if you’re able to sign up for a Sustainable Payment Plan today.

We all need a little help from time to time. If you’re finding it hard to pay your energy bill, over either the short or long term, speak to your retailer today about your circumstances. All retailers have programs in place to help when paying your bill is tough. Depending on your situation your retailer may be able to help through a hardship program or a payment plan.

The Sustainable Payment Plans Framework is a voluntary Framework that many retailers have signed up to. The Framework guides retailers on how they can better work together with customers to come up with a payment plan that is affordable and sustainable. Want to know if your retailer is a part of the Framework? Click here for the full list of participating retailers.
