What is a controlled load?
A controlled load is a tariff you pay for some appliances like slab or underfloor heating or electric hot water systems. Retailers charge you just for that appliance and the energy it uses. Controlled tariffs are generally lower as these appliances operate during off-peak hours, usually overnight.
To find out if you have a controlled load, check your energy bill. The information should appear on the second page.
